72 HOURS IN A TINY HOUSE CABIN

Getting away into Nature is something that I needed and this experience has truly been something I would like to relive again. @Getawayhouse http://www.instagram.com/getawayhouse is a cabin styled walk into nature that has different outpost near different areas where you can experience getting away from all your other responsibilities and wind down and feel at peace into Nature.

I took a Trip around August at the Georgia Outpost, and felt like this was much needed as we were almost 6 months in with Quarantine and having to be on lockdown and social distancing became the newest trend! I was always a homebody so it wasn’t much of a drastic change for me, but working from home and actually having to do everything safely, and remotely because of the state the world was in with the new Pandemic somehow took a toll on my emotional state of mind, relationships and work life and my body and mind agreed with A BREAK!

I stayed at the Outpost for 2 nights to get back at peace with myself and soak in nature and here are some things that I experienced with this stay and things you can also expect if you want to checkout Getaway House.

Detachment

Unplug and Unwind! The point of this Trip was to literally detach away from life: The calls, the emails, the follow ups, social media, the news. Anything that was a distraction and didn’t have anything to do with just letting things be and enjoying the moment. Getaway house has no service or wifi in these areas to make sure that you experience the best form of detachment, but did download a movie or 2 just to have something to watch when cooking and to get a full experience of watching cabin movies while here.

The overall experience with entering the Outpost knowing that I wouldn’t have access to what’s going on online felt like I was missing out, but this was the best experience of all to know that once my trip was over and I checked my phone, I wasn’t missing out at all. The only thing I was missing out on was ever planning a schedule that didn't include not being away from my phone and taking time to myself.

Getting Into Nature

When you don’t have much around you but a 200 sq. ft space and no service and immaculate views of nature, The only other option is to get into it. My days started off with looking forward to stepping away from the outpost and explore new trails and walking paths that they had nearby. I checked out the paths with morning jogs. I’m not too adventurous when it comes to walking into the woods and going far with the paths because I watch too many thriller movies! But I did take a walk into the trails by our cabin.

The sound of trees, just yourself, the birds and whatever else that was out there somehow made me feel at peace and centered, like I belonged and just gave me a wake up call that earth is a beautiful thing to experience. Nearby, there were also small lakes and swamps. Discovering nature was for sure a day time event because once it gets dark it is DARK and goes from feeling like you’re in a peaceful nature movie to a horror movie.

I doubted the amount of darkness it would actually get in the woods and left something in the car once while I was here and took one of their lanterns, but the lantern made me feel like a target for wildlife and I could only see objects if they were super close to me so my advice: Make sure you have everything you need before you’re in for the night.

Coziness

Feeling warmth and coziness was all the vibes during this stay in the Getaway Cabin. With it being a cabin setup, it was pretty modern and high quality tools to use for you to feel safe and at home even though you’re in the middle of the woods. The bed was super comfy and therapeutic to my sleeping needs and was enough to fit 3 people! I also really enjoyed cooking with the small electric stoves and how there was everything there to cook with if needed.

The shower was also great and something that I always looked forward to after those walks and trips to the walking paths. The stay was almost a luxurious way of camping and I would really enjoy experiencing this during winter so that I can get more of a wonderland scenery and maybe even at a different outpost.

Distancing

These cabins were private but also close enough to where you could see your next door tiny cabin neighbors. It was really nice to get a glimpse of how others were enjoying their stay, as you could see some people using the fire pit outside and making a nice dinner or just people really embracing the sun and nature during their walks. There were some families that came along and brought dogs as well so it is truly an experience for anyone to enjoy.

When the Trip was over it felt really good to get back to work. This trip was a great way to really refresh, think about your purpose and to break away from everything that has been going on day to day. Being in nature really makes you feel calmness and makes me feel like there’s a greater purpose to life or that my worries are never as big as this world is.

There’s so much to enjoy and sometimes we can get ahead of our daily routine and stress out when all we need is to let things be and recoup ourselves.

Experiencing this in the woods was an adventure, and I would love to see if getaway can make some cabins that have different outposts in an island or beach getaway type of vibe! But for now, I recommend trying this out for those that need a social distancing stay. Use my code: THETAYLORB for $25 off of your entire stay
